15 most spoken languages in Florida

15 most spoken languages in Florida (plus useful phrases for each)

So, I was digging around for some info about the languages spoken in Florida (don’t ask me why. What can I say, I’m a curious gal). Turns out, it’s super diverse, as you might expect from a sunny state.

There are 15 major languages spoken there every day. English is obviously number one, but many folks use something else at home.

Check out the list below that breaks them down based on number of speakers, according to the official stats from the Census (thanks, CMS.gov):

Languages spoken in Florida

  • Spanish: 1,640,329 speakers
  • Haitian Creole: 172,555 speakers
  • Vietnamese: 35,602 speakers
  • Portuguese: 33,193 speakers
  • Chinese: 33,151 speakers
  • French: 29,811 speakers

Floridians (or those interested in visiting the state), I hope you’ve found this post useful. Maybe you can use it to decide which language to learn next. Or perhaps you just wanna shock some of the locals by dropping a few words of their mother tongue into a conversation. Whatever you do, have fun!
